Video - Fighting Poverty through Education

In 2002 a young woman, Gemma Rice (now Gemma Sisia), opened a small school in Northern Tanzania with the help of her family, friends and her local Rotary club in Australia. What started with only a handful of children and one teacher is now in 2009 a thriving school of almost 1200 children, 130 teachers and 200 staff. In January 2008 a second primary school with an initial enrollment of over 550 children opened. These schools really have the potential to influence the quality of Tanzania's future leaders. Every day staff and students work hard to fulfil the school's philosophy of "Fighting Poverty through Education". St Judes is supported by many Rotarians in Australia and in the United States.

From Rotary eClub One Webmaster...

It is a mandatory requirement that Rotarians spend at least 30 minutes on the Rotary eClub One website to qualify for a make-up credit. Please use your 30 minute visit to review a variety of articles from our Programs section and/or information from our web site pages. As always, Rotarians should apply the 4-Way Test to the time they spend on the Rotary eClub One site for a make-up.
