The
Continental Divide National Scenic Trail
From the Canadian border at the
north to the Mexican border at the south, The Continental Divide
Trail (CDT) travels across five states, through some of the most
wild and picturesque landscape in North America.
The CDT includes dozens of unique
ecosystems, three National Parks and hundreds of historic
landmarks. It is one of the most environmentally significant trail
corridors in the United States.
The CDT Alliance was formed in
1995 by dedicated outdoor enthusiasts who recognized the rare and
delicate nature of this National Scenic Trail. A non-profit
organization, the CDTA is dedicated to the completion and
preservation of the trail.
Concerned
citizens and service clubs can support the CDTA by becoming members,
making donations, or volunteering for trail maintenance and
construction projects.
The Rotary Clubs of Conifer and
Evergreen, in District 5450, in cooperation with the CDTA are
pleased to offer the 6th Annual Rotary Trek on “The King
of Trails” portion in Colorado.
The funds raised by this 6th
Annual Rotary Trek will be used to support the CDTA Youth Corps and
other volunteer programs on the trail.
The
CDTA Youth Corps is an innovative program designed to involve youth
in the construction and improvement of the trail. Young people
between the ages of 17 and 25 are employed annually for summer work
programs in various locations along the trail. This is a great
opportunity to learn important life skills and develop an awareness
and appreciation of public lands.
You are invited to participate in
the 6th Annual Rotary Trek. The trek starts Friday, July
14, 2006 with the initial gathering near Denver, Colorado. Hikers
will need to carry their lunch, water, and personal items on the
trail. Tent accommodations are provided along with all meals, and
snacks, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening refreshments.

information.
Rotary eClub One of District 5450
provides an annual scholarship to the CDTA Youth Corps as part of
its extensive projects and programs support funding.
