ROTARY
INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION 2006
In the five years since its opening on July 1, 2000, the Øresund Bridge has made a substantial impact on infrastructure and traffic patterns in southern Scandinavia. Last year, 16.8 million people travelled across the Øresund Bridge. The bridge has also spurred the development of an entire new European region, the Øresund Region with Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen and Malmö, Sweden’s third largest city, as dual centres.
Rotarians in Sweden and Denmark have bridged the Øresund. Now they invite Rotarians everywhere to Bridge the World with Friendship and Fellowship by attending the 2006 RI Convention in Malmo-Copenhagen, 11-14 June 2006.
The main conference venue will be Copenhagen's Bella Centre, the Nordic region’s largest conference and exhibition facility. It is open and airy with lots of greenery, making it a cozy, inviting venue for inspiring Service Above Self.
In addition to plenary sessions, open forums and workshops, 2006 RI Convention highlights will include:
Intense peer-to-peer contact in a continuous, interactive discussion group, an innovation that allows you to focus on service while getting to know like-minded Rotarians
RI themed luncheons (11-14 June) such as the Bridging the World luncheon
Pre or post-convention HOC Homestay - Rotarians in Northern Europe will open their homes to Rotarians from overseas for a few days before or after the convention
RI Fellowship booths and the Projects Exhibition that will show what Rotarians are doing to live up to the ideal of service in other parts of the world
Host Hospitality evening - Rotarians from the host districts will share an evening at home or at a restaurant with visiting Rotarians (12 June)
The best of Sweden and Denmark - Tivoli Day in Copenhagen (10 June), and Swedish Night (13 June) and Nobel Dinners (8-12 June) in Malmö. Guests under 18 will enjoy a 50% discount for the first two events!
Get-Together Luncheons at the House of Friendship - Rotarians at tables of 8 to 10 will exchange business cards as they enjoy fellowship
