eCLUB ONE ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS PROJECT

July 2003, eClub One (ECO) opened a new venue for its commitment to Rotary Service, collaboration with a new organization, Engineers Without Borders – USA. (EWB) of Boulder, Colorado

Enid Ablowitz, ECO Director of Development, brought the two organizations together to explore how small Rotary Clubs could work with EWB to achieve World Community Service projects difficult if not impossible to achieve otherwise.

Preliminary discussions with Bernard Amadei, founder of EWB, by Enid and Ted Manning, ECO Assistant District Governor, led to a meeting between EWB officers and ECO officers chaired by Bernie Zurbriggen, ECO Director of Rotary Service.

Participating in the meeting was ECO member Gerry Roberts, PDG D5230 – California.

Gerry’s experience as a District Governor and writer and manager of WCS Matching Grants, made him an ideal nominee to lead the collaboration for ECO.

The result, a Letter of Agreement reproduced below.
