History of Involvement:The whole of the Pakistani province of Sindh have been affected by the monsoon season's severe rainfall. Agriculture is the primary source of income for the majority of people in rural areas. 90% of the crops were destroyed by floodwaters that were 2 to 6 feet high. The majority of their residences are composed of mud-thatched cottages. Most of these folks have also lost their homes as a result of sporadic rains that have been occurring since the last week of June and two intense bouts of torrential precipitation in August. They now reside on the sides of roads that are comparatively higher in level or on other areas of land that are comparatively higher in elevation. Almost all of these people are either living in tents or temporary shelters.

In the region under consideration, which is in the outskirts of Mirpur Khas, Sindh, the majority of residents do have temporary tents or plastic covers. Many people in this area—if not all—have also received mosquito nets from other NGOs. But they are experiencing food shortages. Food cannot be distributed fully by the government. Wheat stocks are often kept by rural residents for one year. Rains and flooding, meanwhile, have also wiped away their wheat stock.
As a result, they are in desperate need of food. I have personally given 120 families 1200 kg of wheat flour (10 kg per family).

I therefore propose giving food packets to some of these destitute families.

I can oversee the distribution of the food packets because I will be in Sindh, Pakistan, until the end of September.

I spoke with some local Rotarians. The Executive Director of the ARTS Foundation (NGO) (who himself is a Rotarian), the President of the Rotary Club of Mirpur Khas Central, and others.

These groups will handle the distribution of the food. They have given their consent and are ready to complete the job.
