Kitengela schools sexual health initiative for Athi River and Utimishi Schools.
Description:Kitengela sits approximately 1.5 hours outside of the main city of Nairobi, Kenya. Primary schools in Kenya follow the syllabus set out by the government, however, the syllabus omits basic health education and vital topics such as changes to your body during puberty. The effects of sexual activity are not included. Sexual abuse is sadly common; yet it is not addressed in the community. This project will involve working with Jifunze International, an established NGO in Melbourne, to provide education through health educators in Kitengela.”
The training will include
1. Provision of health education, mainly puberty and sexual health education, with a short self-defense section.
2. Assistance for children experiencing domestic violence and sexual abuse.
3. Assistance linking survivors to housing and health services.
4. Bridging programs to direct survivors to government support programs in Kenya.
5. Data collection on children affected and needs assessments to assist future project planning.
6. Training of Champion staff in schools to handle disclosures of violence / abuse and provide support.
There will be 6 teaching staff within the schools trained as Champion program leaders, 2. School Principals will be kept informed and engaged in the program as well as 1300 students completing the training.

Child Scholarship Miguelina and Dang Khoi
Description:We sponsor two children for one year, which supports the children in terms of education, health, nutrition, water, and hygiene, and ensures their rights and protection. (If 100% of your donation cannot be invested in this project, we will invest your generous giving in a comparable project).
History of Involvement:Word Vision Switzerland staff work closely with the children, their parents, the village, and the schools.
As sponsors of these child sponsorships, we are in personal contact with the children. Example: Miguelina is 10 years old and lives in a mountain farming village in Bolivia, where there is great poverty. Miguelina - she wrote to us - likes to help her father look after the animals. She likes to go to school, and her favorite subject is mathematics. But she also likes to draw, and we are looking forward to her next drawing.
Dang Khoi lives in the north of Vietnam in a farming village. He is 8 years old and has one sister. Dang Khoi goes to elementary school. His favorite subject is reading, but his favorite game is soccer.
Being able to support Miguelina and Dang Khoi with our sponsorship is very important for them now as well as for her future.
