President's Message SEPTEMBER 2013

September 1, 2013

Dear All

Today will be another record-breaking hot day in Denver.  Summer has its grip on even though a few mornings have had a hint of fall.  For me Fall is all about beginnings.  I teach one class at a local college and when I go “back to school” it always feels like renewal.   Your Rotary eClubOne welcomes some new beginnings of our own.  By now, we hope you are becoming familiar with your new board of Directors, your new website and our new members.  Another start this Fall will be with our approved budget.  Look forward to hearing from Jeremy Penner who is our Service Director.  Jeremy’s committee is in charge of distributing our international, disaster and community service grants.

While I am on the subject of Jeremy, let me tell you a little bit about our Service Director.  Jeremy does his work and calls his home in Kenya.  He joins our board meetings very late at night or very early in the morning.  Because of his amazing work and his dedication to Rotary, Jeremy was awarded the clubs highest honor, the Donald Carver award this last year.  That award goes to recognize the most outstanding member of our Rotary eClubOne.  Would you like to know work more closely with Jeremy?  Consider reaching out to him at pennerja@hotmail.com.  Jeremy could use some volunteers to work on the Disaster and Community Service Grant committees.  This is fun work as you get to review the grant applications to the club for our various granting projects.   And, if you are having a bad day, the chance to see Rotary in action, your bad day will be brighter.

As you know your Board of Director’s have spent time asking you to engage.  We have sent emails to those of you we haven’t heard from in a while.  We have encouraged you to participate in the forums either as a participant or a forum facilitator.  The facilitators have done an excellent job.  If you are interested in hosting a forum, please reach out to Henry Harrison at henry@hhh3.net.

Finally, we have another chance for you to fully participate in your club: one Board position remains unfilled:  we are seeking a Foundation Chair.  This position includes helping guide members to Rotary International Foundation Giving as well as promoting the advantages of RI Foundation giving.  Our giving allows for Rotary to fund projects all across our globe.  Please let me know at dbrackney@msec.org if you would like to discuss tasks and time commitments related to this position.

Thank you for all you do.  I know that when I go to bed tonight that a fellow eClubOne member will be waking up to start their Rotary day.

In Peace and Rotary service.

President Deb.
